Supporting Children with SEND at Cover People

Supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is one of the most rewarding roles in education. At Cover People, we believe in the power of small achievements, as they often bring the greatest job satisfaction. Working as part of a dedicated team, you’ll have the opportunity to make a lasting impact in the lives of children who need additional support to thrive both academically and personally.

In this role, you’ll help to create an inclusive and supportive environment where every child is given the chance to reach their potential, no matter their individual challenges. Whether you’re providing one-on-one support, assisting in class activities, or helping children develop essential life skills, your contributions will play a vital part in their success.

Qualities We Look For:

We value individuals who have a genuine passion for supporting children with SEND, as well as the skills to meet the unique needs of each student. The key qualities we look for in our SEND support staff include:

Experience Supporting Children with a Range of SEND:

We seek candidates who have hands-on experience working with children with various special educational needs, whether it’s learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, physical disabilities, or behavioural challenges. Understanding the specific requirements of SEND children is essential for creating a positive and productive learning environment.

Flexibility and Willingness to Get Stuck In:

Working with SEND children often requires flexibility. Every day can present new challenges, and the ability to adapt and offer practical support is essential. Our ideal candidates are those who are willing to roll up their sleeves and do whatever it takes to support both the children and the team.

Organisational Skills:

The role often involves managing multiple tasks at once, from providing support in the classroom to assisting with learning plans. Being well-organised ensures that both the child’s educational needs and the team’s objectives are met efficiently and effectively.

Empathy and Resilience:

Working with SEND children requires not just patience but also a deep sense of empathy. Our staff need to understand the emotional, behavioural, and educational challenges faced by these children and offer the support they need with compassion. Resilience is also key, as the role can sometimes be emotionally demanding, but it is also incredibly fulfilling when you see the progress made.

At Cover People, we are committed to providing ongoing training and support to help our staff succeed in these important roles. If you are passionate about working with, SEND children, and have the qualities and experience we are looking for, we would love to hear from you. Join our team and help make a difference in the lives of children who need it most!
