About the Role

Cover People are currently supporting a welcoming and ambitious secondary school in Bury with the appointment of a permanent English Teacher to join their team from September 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a well-established English department with a strong focus on academic achievement, high-quality teaching and excellent student outcomes. The school has a supportive senior leadership team, clear behaviour expectations and a positive learning environment where both staff and students are encouraged to thrive.

The successful candidate will teach English Language and Literature across KS3 and GCSE, inspiring students to develop a love of reading, writing and communication.

Early Career Teachers will benefit from a comprehensive induction programme and dedicated mentoring, while experienced teachers will have the opportunity to contribute to curriculum development and departmental initiatives.

Teachers will be paid in line with the M1–M6 Teacher Pay Scale from day one.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality English lessons in line with the national curriculum
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons across KS3 and GCSE English Language and Literature
  • Monitor, assess and track student progress effectively
  • Create a positive, inclusive and engaging classroom environment
  • Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all students
  • Support students' academic, personal and social development
  • Contribute positively to the English department and wider school community

Requirements

  • QTS or equivalent UK teaching qualification
  • Experience teaching English at KS3 and GCSE
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • A passion for English and raising student attainment
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Right to work in the UK
