Start Date: ASAP
Salary: £90–£100 per day
Contract: Temporary (potential for extension or permanent role)

Are you a caring, resilient, and motivated Learning Support Assistant looking to make a genuine impact?
Cover People are recruiting on behalf of a friendly and inclusive primary school in Trafford, part of a well-regarded multi-academy trust and rated “Good” by Ofsted. Serving children aged 3 to 11, the school is committed to inclusion, nurturing, and raising aspirations for all pupils—particularly those with additional needs.

With a strong community ethos and a vibrant, creative curriculum, this is a fantastic opportunity to support children’s academic and personal development in a school that truly values the role of support staff.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • One-to-one and small group support: Help children with additional needs access learning and work towards their Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets.
  • In-class support: Assist teaching staff in adapting and delivering engaging, inclusive lessons.
  • Encouraging independence: Support pupils in building self-esteem, life skills, and resilience.
  • Promoting positive behaviour: Implement consistent behaviour strategies to maintain a calm, focused learning environment.
  • Team collaboration: Work closely with SENCOs, class teachers, and therapists to deliver holistic support.
  • Monitoring progress: Keep accurate records and contribute to regular progress reviews.
  • Providing emotional support: Build strong, trusting relationships to help pupils feel secure and confident.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience with young people: Previous experience in a school, youth work, or care setting is essential.
  • SEN awareness: Experience supporting children with additional needs (such as autism, ADHD, or speech and language difficulties) is desirable but not essential.
  • Resilience and flexibility: Able to adapt calmly to changing circumstances and pupil needs.
  • Team player: Able to collaborate with staff and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.
  • Strong communication: Clear and empathetic when working with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
  • Willingness to develop: We offer training and CPD to support your professional growth—even if you're new to SEN education.

Why Join This School?

  • A chance to make a real difference to children’s lives and learning every day.
  • A supportive, inclusive team who value every staff member.
  • Training opportunities in behaviour management, safeguarding, and SEN strategies.
  • Potential for long-term or permanent roles based on performance.
  • Be part of a school that celebrates diversity, ambition, and community.
