Job Title: Secondary School Computer Science Teachers & Cover Supervisors
Locations: South Manchester – including Trafford, Tameside, Stockport, and surrounding areas
Contract: Short-term (after this half term) and long-term positions available (from 2026 onwards)
Salary: As per the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document (STPCD)

Start Date: Immediate for short-term positions; 2026 for long-term roles

About the Roles

We are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated Computer Science teachers and cover supervisors to join secondary schools across South Manchester. Whether you are seeking short-term work starting after this half term or planning for a long-term role in 2026, we have opportunities to suit you.

As a teacher or cover supervisor, you will:

  • Deliver high-quality Computer Science lessons or support learning across the curriculum.

  • Inspire and engage students, helping them achieve their full potential.

  • Contribute to the overall progress, development, and well-being of students.

  • Support a positive, safe, and structured learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

For Computer Science Teachers:

  • Teach students according to their educational needs, including planning, preparation, and assessment.

  • Deliver engaging lessons that reflect ICT, literacy, numeracy, and subject specialism.

  • Monitor and support student progress, providing feedback and maintaining accurate records.

  • Work as part of a team to develop curriculum, resources, and schemes of work.

  • Act as a form tutor where required, supporting students’ pastoral needs.

For Cover Supervisors:

  • Supervise classes during teachers’ absence, maintaining behaviour and engagement.

  • Deliver pre-prepared lessons or support classroom learning activities.

  • Monitor and report on student behaviour and engagement.

  • Support a positive and safe learning environment.

Shared Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to school development plans and quality assurance processes.

  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, parents, and external agencies.

  • Participate in professional development and staff training.

Person Specification

Essential for Teachers:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline

  • Ability to inspire students and deliver engaging lessons

  • Strong classroom management and organisational skills

  • Commitment to raising student achievement and supporting all learners, including SEN and disadvantaged students

Essential for Cover Supervisors:

  • Experience working with young people in a school or educational setting

  • Ability to manage student behaviour and maintain a productive classroom environment

  • Reliability, flexibility, and strong communication skills

Desirable for All:

  • Experience in large comprehensive schools

  • Familiarity with curriculum planning and assessment

  • ICT skills and confidence with digital learning tools

Personal Qualities:

  • Compassionate, resilient, and self-aware

  • Positive, optimistic attitude with commitment to student success

  • Team player who works effectively with colleagues and the wider school community
