Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Primary School, Salford
Contract: Full-time, Term-Time Only

About Us:
We are recruiting for a vibrant and inclusive primary school in Salford, dedicated to providing high-quality education and pastoral support to all our students. We pride ourselves on fostering a positive, supportive environment that promotes the well-being and development of every child.

The Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team. This role is not classroom-based; instead, you will be working directly with the pastoral team to support children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) across the school as and when needed. You will provide tailored support to students, helping them develop the emotional, social, and academic skills they need to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to children with SEN in a variety of contexts, including during playtime, lunchtime, and transitions between lessons.
  • Work closely with the pastoral team to implement support plans for students who require additional help.
  • Use a strong understanding of Zones of Regulation to support students in developing emotional regulation and self-awareness.
  • Apply Restorative Practices to help resolve conflicts, rebuild relationships, and support positive behaviour.
  • Offer one-on-one or small group support to students who may need help with specific tasks or during moments of distress.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other staff to ensure that SEN students are fully included in school life.
  • Monitor and record the progress of individual students, providing feedback to the SENDCo and pastoral team.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with children, particularly those with Special Educational Needs.
  • A good understanding of the Zones of Regulation framework and how to apply it in a school setting.
  • Knowledge and experience of Restorative Practices for conflict resolution and supporting social-emotional development.
  • A caring and patient nature with the ability to build strong, trusting relationships with children.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the varying needs of individual students.
  • A relevant qualification in special educational needs or child development would be beneficial.
