£140–£170 per day (inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay)
About the Role:
Cover People are excited to support Early Career Teachers (ECTs) in their first steps into secondary education. We are working closely with welcoming and inclusive secondary schools across North Manchester to place newly qualified English Teachers in a variety of flexible roles — including day-to-day, short-term and long-term placements, with permanent options often arising.
Whether you’re looking to build classroom confidence, complete your induction, or gain experience across KS3 and KS4, we’ll help you find placements that align with your goals.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver engaging, curriculum-aligned English lessons to KS3 and KS4 pupils
• Create a positive and inclusive learning environment
• Maintain classroom behaviour and follow school policies
• Work collaboratively with staff and contribute to wider school life
• Support student progress through adaptive and inclusive teaching
• Develop your teaching practice with guidance from mentors and experienced colleagues
Person Specification:
Essential:
• Currently completing or recently completed PGCE or equivalent with QTS
• Degree in English, English Literature, or a related subject
• Genuine passion for English and student development
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply through Cover People UK)
Desirable:
• Experience on placement within secondary school English departments
• Willingness to work flexibly across different schools and key stages
