Cover People are working with a specialist primary SEND school in Manchester seeking a compassionate, skilled, and experienced SEN Teacher to join their dedicated team from January 2025. This is a full-time maternity cover position teaching a small Key Stage 2 class of with a range of complex needs.
The school provides a caring, communication-friendly environment where staff work collaboratively to ensure every pupil feels safe, valued, and supported to thrive. Through a holistic and therapeutic approach, the team focuses on developing each child’s communication, independence, and emotional wellbeing, celebrating progress at every stage.
The Role
- Plan and deliver highly differentiated, engaging lessons tailored to individual developmental levels.
- Use communication-focused approaches such as PECs, Makaton, or intensive interaction to support pre-verbal learners.
- Foster a calm, nurturing, and structured classroom environment that supports emotional regulation and sensory needs.
- Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and families to ensure holistic support for every pupil.
- Support social and emotional development through play-based and sensory-led learning.
About You
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Proven experience working with pupils with complex SEND, including autism, sensory processing, and communication needs.
- Skilled in managing challenging behaviour positively and proactively.
- Knowledge of communication aids and sensory-based learning approaches.
- Patient, resilient, and deeply committed to inclusive education.
