Job Description:
Cover People UK are working in partnership with a welcoming and nurturing primary school in Stockport to recruit a confident and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to provide PPA cover across KS1 and KS2.
The school has a strong community ethos, where pupils are supported to flourish academically, socially, and emotionally. Staff work collaboratively to maintain high standards of learning, positive behaviour, and inclusive practice.
This is a rewarding opportunity for an HLTA who is confident delivering pre-planned lessons independently and supporting high-quality teaching and learning across the school.
In addition to the HLTA hours, the successful candidate will also work 5 hours per week as a Midday Supervisor, supporting pupils during lunchtime.
Key Responsibilities:
- PPA Cover: Deliver pre-planned lessons across KS1 and KS2 classes.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a positive, calm and purposeful learning environment.
- Teaching & Learning Support: Support pupil progress and engagement through effective delivery and adaptation of tasks.
- Behaviour Management: Apply consistent strategies in line with the school’s policies and values.
- Inclusion & SEND Support: Ensure all pupils, including those with additional needs, are supported appropriately.
- Feedback & Reporting: Provide clear feedback to teaching staff regarding pupil progress and lesson outcomes.
- Midday Supervision: Support pupils during lunchtime, ensuring safety, positive behaviour, and engagement in play.
Person Specification:
- Holds a recognised HLTA qualification.
- Strong experience working across KS1 and KS2 in a primary school setting.
- Confident leading whole-class learning and delivering planned lessons independently.
- Strong communication skills and a professional, positive attitude.
- Reliable, adaptable and committed to supporting a whole-school team.
- A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Able to support the values and ethos of the school (all faiths welcome).
