Cover People are working with a specialist primary SEND school in Trafford seeking a compassionate, skilled and experienced SEN Teacher to join their dedicated team from Easter. This is a full-time long-term position teaching a small Key Stage 2 class of pupils with a range of complex needs.

The school is part of a well-established multi-academy trust and provides a specialist setting for pupils with autism and complex learning needs. Staff work together to create a calm, nurturing and communication-friendly environment where every pupil is supported to feel safe, valued and ready to learn. The school places strong emphasis on personalised learning, communication development and emotional wellbeing, ensuring that each child is supported to achieve their individual potential. Through a collaborative and therapeutic approach, staff celebrate progress at every stage while helping pupils develop independence, confidence and essential life skills.


The Role

• Plan and deliver highly differentiated, engaging lessons tailored to individual developmental levels.
• Use communication-focused approaches such as PECS, Makaton or intensive interaction to support pre-verbal learners.
• Foster a calm, nurturing and structured classroom environment that supports emotional regulation and sensory needs.
• Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists and families to ensure holistic support for every pupil.
• Support social and emotional development through play-based and sensory-led learning.


About You

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Proven experience working with pupils with complex SEND, including autism, sensory processing and communication needs.
• Skilled in managing challenging behaviour positively and proactively.
• Knowledge of communication aids and sensory-based learning approaches.
• Patient, resilient and deeply committed to inclusive education.
