Learning Support Assistants – Tameside
Supply Staff Required
Cover People UK are seeking dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistants to work on a supply basis across specialist and mainstream schools in Tameside.
We are experiencing growing demand for skilled support staff who can make a real difference in the lives of young people with additional needs.
Who We’re Looking For
We welcome applicants from a wide range of professional backgrounds, including (but not limited to):
- Youth Support Workers – bring your experience in guiding and mentoring young people.
- Care and Support Workers – use your nurturing and empathetic approach to help students flourish.
- Community and Outreach Workers – apply your communication and engagement skills in an educational setting.
- Sports Coaches or individuals with a background in sport – while not essential, experience in sport is highly desirable for its positive impact on engagement, behaviour, and wellbeing.
Experience supporting young people with SEN, autism, complex needs, or behavioural challenges is advantageous but not essential — a positive attitude and willingness to learn are just as important.
Your Role as a Learning Support Assistant
- Provide individualised support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
- Assist in the delivery of tailored learning activities and interventions.
- Support behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies.
- Help implement and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment.
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, parents, and external professionals to support student progress.
- Promote independence, confidence, and positive relationships among pupils.
